The evening will start with a brief presentation about the nervous system, brain waves, and heart coherence and will end with delicious meditation, yoga, and reflection. YUM!!!
About the Heart-Brain Connection
Our heart is more than just an organ, it’s an expansive energy center. There are more nerve connections between the heart and the brain than any other system in the body - in fact, 90% of these connecting fibers ascend from the heart up to the brain. These neural pathways are constantly sending signals that interact with the brain’s higher cognitive and emotional centers, and it has been scientifically proven that practicing positive emotions both increases intuition and promotes creativity.
About the Instructors
FUN FACT: Both Nkechi & Amanda have a B.S. in Neuroscience and over a decade of teaching dance!
Nkechi Deanna Njaka is the founder and Creative Director of creative agency NDN Lifestyle Studio as well as the co-founder of Sitting Matters. Nkechi majored in neuroscience and dance at Scripps College and went on to complete an MSc in Neuroscience at the University of Edinburgh. She has spent the majority of her life investigating the relationship between the brain and the body and has always felt the significance of their integration. Through this work, she discovered that mindfulness and creativity are crucial for sustaining individual and global well-being. When not exploring mindfulness, creativity and other wellness practices, Nkechi spends her time discovering ways to participate more fully in the arts and travel. She currently lives in SF.
